How Can You Follow a Court Case Through the UYAP Citizen Portal?
UYAP is the National Judiciary Informatics System of the Turkish Ministry of Justice. Citizens can use the UYAP Citizen Portal to follow civil, criminal, administrative and enforcement files in which they are recorded as a party. The portal provides file information, procedural history, available documents, hearing dates and payment functions according to the user’s identity-verification method and access rights.
People consulting an Antalya lawyer or a Serik lawyer should use UYAP as a monitoring tool, but should not calculate legal deadlines solely from the date a document becomes visible. Official service records and the applicable procedural rule remain decisive.
How to Enter UYAP Through e-Government
- Open the official e-Government portal or the UYAP Citizen Portal.
- Select the UYAP Citizen Portal service.
- Authenticate using an e-Government password, mobile signature, electronic signature, Turkish identity card or another available method.
- Open the file inquiry or “My Files” section.
- Select the judicial branch and the relevant open or closed file.
- Review the cover information, procedural history, documents and hearings.
Do not enter identity credentials through a link received from an unverified message. The official domain and secure connection should be checked before login.
What Information Can Be Viewed?
| Portal section | Information | How it should be used |
|---|---|---|
| File cover | Court, file number, parties, case type and status | Verify that the correct file and party role are shown. |
| Procedural history | Registered actions and changes in the file | Follow the sequence and identify the latest judicial action. |
| Documents | Petitions, minutes, reports, decisions and notices available for viewing | Read the actual document rather than relying on its title. |
| Hearings | Scheduled, completed or adjourned hearing information | Compare with official invitations and latest minutes. |
| Payments | Fee, expense and collection functions available for the file | Verify the file and preserve the payment receipt. |
| Higher courts | Available information about regional, Court of Cassation or Council of State review | Follow transfer and decision status without treating it as service. |
What Does “Procedural History” Mean?
The procedural-history section records actions entered in the system, such as registration of a petition, service preparation, hearing, expert appointment, receipt of a report, interim decision, judgment or transfer to a higher court. The latest entry provides useful information but may not explain the full legal meaning of the action.
Open the connected document and read the court order or minutes. An entry such as “decision entered” does not reveal whether the decision is final, appealable or served.
How Should UYAP Documents Be Reviewed?
Check the court, date, document type, electronic signature and attachments. UYAP documents may use the UDF format and require the current UYAP Document Editor or an authorised viewer. A document downloaded from the portal should be stored securely without changing its original file.
If a document is missing, incomplete or unreadable, contact the relevant judicial unit or portal support. A delay in scanning or approval may cause a physical document to appear later in the electronic file.
Can Documents Be Sent Through UYAP?
Citizens who enter only with an e-Government password can view their files and documents according to portal permissions. A qualified electronic signature is required for citizens to file civil or administrative actions and send procedural documents electronically. Lawyers use the UYAP Lawyer Portal for filings in represented cases.
Before sending a document, verify the correct file, document category, attachments and electronic signature. Save the registration confirmation. An unsent draft or failed upload does not complete a procedural act.
Is the Date Shown in UYAP the Official Service Date?
Not necessarily. A judgment or expert report may appear in UYAP before formal service, or a service record may be uploaded later. Legal periods are calculated according to the applicable service, pronouncement or knowledge rule, not simply the upload date.
For deadline control, review what to do when you receive a legal notification and how to track legal deadlines.
Can Fees and Expenses Be Paid Online?
UYAP offers calculation and payment functions for certain court and enforcement fees, expenses and collections. The available methods depend on the file and portal service. Confirm the amount, file number and payment description before completing the transaction.
After payment, download the receipt and verify that the transaction appears in the correct file. A bank debit without successful file registration should be investigated immediately.
UYAP SMS and Mobile Services
The UYAP SMS Information System and the e-Justice Citizen mobile application can help users follow developments, documents and hearings. Alerts are useful reminders but do not necessarily constitute formal legal service. Changes should be confirmed in the official file.
Phone numbers, addresses and electronic notification information should be kept current. A missed SMS does not stop a statutory period that began through valid service.
File Hiding and Personal Data
The Citizen Portal may allow a user to hide a file from the e-Government display. This is a privacy and interface function; it does not close the case, remove it from UYAP or affect judicial proceedings.
Do not share portal passwords, electronic-signature PINs or downloaded case documents with unauthorised persons. Court files may contain health, financial, family and criminal-investigation information. Use secure devices and sign out after access.
What If the File Does Not Appear?
Check whether your identity information and party role were entered correctly, whether the file belongs to another judicial system or whether confidentiality restrictions apply. Recently opened files may require processing time. Contact the court or enforcement office with the filing receipt and reference number if an expected file remains absent.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will all my court and enforcement files appear in UYAP?
Files in which you are correctly recorded as a party generally appear subject to system, confidentiality and access rules. Incorrect identity or party records may prevent visibility.
What should I do if a case does not appear?
Verify the reference number and identity details, then contact the relevant judicial unit or UYAP support. Preserve the filing or service document.
Is a judgment served when I can see it in UYAP?
Not automatically. Visibility and legal service are different. The physical or electronic service record must be checked.
Can I send a petition with only an e-Government password?
Generally no. Citizens need a qualified electronic signature for case filing and sending procedural documents through the portal.
Can court fees be paid through UYAP?
Yes, payment functions are available for certain file fees, expenses and collections. Always verify the file and save the receipt.
Can the hearing date shown in UYAP change?
Yes. Adjournment, correction or transfer may change the date. Follow the latest minutes, official notice and portal record.
Does hiding a file from e-Government affect the lawsuit?
No. It only changes how the file is displayed to the user and does not affect the judicial record or proceedings.
Using Digital File Tracking Together with Legal Deadline Control
UYAP provides important access to file information, but legal analysis still requires reading the actual documents and service records. Attorney Selin ÖNEM KONUR, through Likya Legal Consultancy, can review the procedural history, pending orders and deadlines in the individual file. For digital file review, contact us.
This article provides general information about UYAP and e-Government services. Portal functions, access methods and technical interfaces may change; official Ministry of Justice services should be used.
